An Apple a Day blog tour and Giveaway

Welcome everyone!
Today's my turn to host the An Apple a Day Blog Tour! Please continue reading, there is a giveaway at the end!

It took me a while to come up with my project, I thought for days on what a quilter would really need.

Me, I am always annoyed that whenever I am going to visit someone, all my sewing supplies, all the small stuff somehow gets thrown into three different bags and still is totally out of order when I arrive and want to sew.

So I made a bag that has enough pockets to carry everything with you. There are pockets for the rulers, for your pencils, for your spray starch or iron (or those small water bottles that I like to carry around), for your scissors.

There are zippered pockets for those small things that you need but which would inevitably fall out of normal pockets.

Click on the pictures to see all the details :)

Here is the full schedule, you can still enter:
Sunday, July 1st: Amanda's Blog & Jana's Blog
Monday, July 2nd: Julie's Blog
Tuesday, July 3rd: Sally's Blog
Wednesday, July 4th: Candice's Blog
Thursday, July 5th: Stephanie's Blog
Saturday, July 7th: Jackie's Blog
Sunday, July 8th: Brooke's Blog

Now, for the giveaway: I am giving away two copies of
An Apple a Day, 9 projects for the daily life of sewist, quilters and crafters!
One to someone living in Europe,
one to someone living somewhere else in the world!

If you want to enter, please leave me a comment telling me where you live and what you would sew first from the book.

If you can't wait for the book, you can purchase it here.

Good luck everyone!

An Apple a Day Blog Tour started

Good morning everyone!

July has started and so has the An Apple a Day Blog Tour! And because this is a book tour, we'll be having inspiring pictures, little stories, fun tutorials and - of course- lots of giveaways you can enter at each stop.
Make sure you visit each member of the creative team, you won't regret it!

And because this is day one, we'll be starting with TWO giveaways :)

Here is the full schedule:
Sunday, July 1st: Amanda's Blog & Jana's Blog
Monday, July 2nd: Julie's Blog
Tuesday, July 3rd: Sally's Blog
Wednesday, July 4th: Candice's Blog
Thursday, July 5th: Stephanie's Blog
Friday, July 6th: Johanna's Blog (ME!)
Saturday, July 7th: Jackie's Blog
Sunday, July 8th: Brooke's Blog
Since I am in Europe, my books took a while to get here. But let me tell you: so worth the wait! Is it weird to be inspired by your own project? I could never have taken those pictures and never have put together and layouted the book the way Amanda did. Did you know that she did all this in the already crazy weeks before quilt market?
Make sure you stop by her blog and tell her how amazing she is :)

And if you can't wait to win the book, you can purchase it here.

Hope you are all having a great summer and please come visit me on Friday :)

Blogtour

Long time, no see! I am having such a good summer, it is hard to sit down at my sewing machine and therefore I have nothing to show you. Well, almost :)

I do have an anouncement to make, though. You may have already seen it on the blogs of the other members of the Design Team: we made a book! And to celebrate, we are doing a BLOGTOUR!
And every blogtour comes with giveaways, so keep an eye out for us.

Meanwhile I will leave you with pictures from my latest kids quilt, which should be for sale in my Dawanda shop tomorrow.
Hope you are having a great summer!
Johanna

PS: and this little one managed to somehow get included when I uploaded my pictures :)
The newest addition to my shop and made from the pretty Dutch Love fabrics from Hamburger Liebe.

here is to 2012

Where did 2011 go?
I had high hopes for this year, I thought it was the year that I would finally finish everything I ever started. Well, not so much :)

In April, all things came crushing down. I lost my relationship, the home and tons of friends we had shared. But in return, I made new friends, I got to know myself better (turns out I am pretty chaotic), and I am now happy.
I hope that 2012 will be the year that I finally finish school and I hope that it will be the year where I will have a lot of fun but other then that, there are no goals for next year. Well, other then finally getting the fabric scrap situation under control :)

So, I w
ould like to thank you for this past year and I would like to thank my family (whoever is reading :) ) and my friends for their support.
And speaking of support, I will leave you with these pictures of the quilt that the
A-Team sent to me. It was made for me (eek! just for me!) in May before I even settled into my new room and due to some postal errors it arrived just a few days before christmas! Could not think of a more perfect timing and more perfect present!
Thank you!

Here is to a great new year!

Tricolore Quilt

I have been wanting to post about this quilt for months. That's how long it has been here. Just a few days ago I got around to put it into my shop, you can find it here.

It was made with the remnants I had left after
making the diamond quilt for Spring Market using Amanda's Sugar&Spice collection. Wow, that really was a long time ago! Anyway, I simply cut out triangles and put them together. And I was surprised to see that I still love the combination of aqua and blue.

Hope you are having a lovely weekend!

Long time no see :)

I hope you have all been to Amanda's party and visited each of the other team members!
If you haven't please go there, there are fabulous giveaways and seeing Amanda's new line *Delighted* and what everyone made with it, is absolutely amazing!

Stephanie

And here is what I made for Amanda with her bunting panel. If you want to see for yourself how many options you have please go here.
I sent mine to her via international express mail but I guess even that is slow these days :)

Sorry Amanda!

Here it is in my room. Doesn't it fit the walls perfectly?

And to celebrate with all the others, I am also giving something away. It's not Delighted but something just as cute.
Leave a comment for your chance to win one of those charm packs of Happier by Deena Rutter and I will pick two winners in a week.

Thank you for staying with me all this time and have a great day!
Johanna

PS: Watch Julie and Sally make a Bottlecap Pin Cushion here. Totally cute!

Friday Tutorial: Summer Skirt

On friday, my tutorial went live at the Quilted Fish. And now I am finally blogging about it here :) Late as always, but it seems like I am always behind. Please tell me that I am not the only one!
So here you go, hop on over and tell me what you think.
And if you want to enter an awesome giveaway you can do that at Julie's blog!
I will be having a giveaway soon, too. And when I say soon I mean after I hopefully pass the two most challenging exams I have ever encountered in my whole life in a couple of weeks and the ensuing vacation that is supposed to take my mind off of them.
For now, I am content with studying and panicking :)

Catching up

Good morning!

I have a lot to post about so I will make this quick :)

First, have you seen that the Quilted Fish is having a Summer Camp? Totally fun!
This year you can win a Glamp - glamorous lamp! Hop on over to participate :)

I also missed two tutorial fridays.

Two weeks ago it was Julies turn and she made this cute table runner!

And then Sally got us this darling nine patch quilt!

Coming up next will be my summer skirt :)
Thank you for your patience,
Herzlichen Dank für Eure Geduld!

Friday Tutorial Magnetic Calendar

I must say that I not only love each and every tutorial of this round at the Quilted Fish but I also want to make each and every one! I just have to find the time and a recipient for it because my tiny room is already full of stuff. Not that I have a lot of things other then fabric :)
This friday it is
Candice's turn. Candice tells us how to make a fantastic magnetic calendar that you can use over and over again. Hop on over and see for yourself!

Have a great weekend!

Bitte hier entlang!

Einen schönen Abend und ein tolles Wochenende,
Johanna

Friday Tutorial on Wednesday

I know, late as always :) but you might want to check this out.
Stephanie from Peas in a Pod wrote a really great tutorial on how to turn an old cookie sheet into a magnet board! I still have a metall tray that has seen better days and instead of throwing it away I will put it to good use using Stephanie's tutorial!
And guess what?! For those living in a part of the world where mod podge isn't available (like myself!), Stephanie also threw in a quick tip on how to make so without. Love her for considering us poor non-americans :)
Please head on over and tell her what a fabulous job she did!
And maybe some day soon I will post pictures of my progress on some small baby quilts. Pictures haven't been taken yet so I unfortunately can't show you.
Have a great day!

Johanna

Johanna

Friday on Thursday

Let's just pretend it is still Friday of last week :) Last Friday Jackie's tutorial went live at the Quilted Fish and I have been wanting to blog about it. The problem was just that whenever I had time to go online and write something, there was never a computer in sight.

Anyway, in case you haven't visited yet, you should go here. Jackie is one of the most creative quilters I have ever seen. She uses all kinds of techniques besides sewing to make her quilts and I am always amazed by her ideas.
Happy Thursday!

Excuse me...

Please excuse me while I try to put my life together again :)
Life has been rough around here but I am starting to feel a lot better again. Spring is here and so is the promise of new adventures.

Today I want to share with you a quilt I made out of the rest of the Sweet Divinity fabric that we got as part of the Creative Consultants Design Team.
It will be going to a shop on Dawanda that raises money for catastrophes related to earthquakes. Of course, right now, that means that the money will go to Japan.
I would have send it to the shop earlier but life got in the way of sewing :)

One side is made with Brooke's wonderful tutorial on the Quilted Fish and the other side with Lynne's tutorial on MBS.
I quilted a few flower shapes and a twirly border.
Hopefully, it will soon find a loving home :)

Have a great day everyone!
Einen schönen Tag Euch allen,

Johanna

Friday Tutorial Sweet little Purse

It's friday and we have another tutorial for you over at the Quilted Fish! Today it is Stephanie's turn and she has brought us a totally adorable little purse! Go check it out here!

Bitte hier entlang :)

Now to my giveaway from last week.
First of all, thank you to everyone who left a comment and for so many new followers! And a big thank you for all your wishes for my mother and for your compliments on the quilt. I sure felt like the luckiest girl in the world!

The random draw thingy told me to pick number 13 (which apparently isn't always unlucky :) ):

Kirie!
You can send me an email or I will send you one tomorrow.

Have a nice weekend everyone!

One should never have to chose between writing and sewing!

I should be writing on some papers for university but instead I am drooling over Sugar and Spice. It took me three entire hours (plus a lot of time preparing) this morning to get them from customs but they are so so sooo worth it. This is actually the first time that I got a fat quarter bundle and I couldn't bring myself to untie it. I might ask someone else to do it because it looks so pretty!

And it now makes me want to sew but I can't! Well, at least I shouldn't :)
I am seriously considering giving up on university and moving to America to work for Riley Blake. When you work with such delicious fabrics all day long you would be really happy, right?
I hope everyone of you gets some sewing time today!

Happy Thursday everyone!
Johanna

PS: There is still time to enter
my giveaway! Thank you to everyone who has entered and signed up to be a follwer. I am sorry but I can't respond to them because there were so many but I am grateful for each of you!
And you can also still enter Julie's giveaway!
And don't forget: tomorrow there will be a new tutorial on the Quilted Fish. This time it is Stephanie's turn! Yay!
And if you want to get some Sugar and Spice you can do that at Julie's new shop. She has the whole line available and is super nice and super fast!

Friday Tutorial Sweet Diamond Quilt and a Giveaway!

Today it is my turn to post a tutorial on Amanda's site. I can't tell you how nervous I am! Of course I want it to be perfect and not have other people think that I am the weird German who is doing a lame post with lots and lots of mistakes.
Please go here to count them :)
Plus, it was someone special's birthday this week (my Mom :) she will probably not like me for writing this but I will hopefully get my cake to her in an hour and make it up to her).
And remember, I just hit 100 followers on this blog!

So, let's celebrate! Since we are all fabric addicts, how about I give away something related to fabric. Now, I know that we all love the Fat Quarter Shop, so I am giving away a 25$ gift certificate. And maybe you could get yourself this lovely jelly roll :)

Yeah! Man könnte davon z.B. diese
süße Jelly Roll kaufen :)
For one entry leave a comment. You could tell me how you like the tutorial or what fabric you are dreaming of buying...
For another entry be my follower.

For a third entry spread the word and tell me :)

Please leave a comment for each of those entries otherwise you won't get as many chances! And please make sure I have a way to contact you. If you get chosen and I can't contact you, I have to chose someone else...
I will close this giveaway in one week.

Happy weekend!

Friday Tutorial Sensational Sweet Divinity Scarf

Today it's Jackie's turn to guest post on the Quilted Fish! And yes! She is making a very lightweight springlike scarf which is truely a piece of art! The perfect project for the next few (hopefully warmer) weeks, so go over and get sewing :)

Bitte hier entlang.

But before you go, please make sure to also visit Jackie on her own site. She is having a fabulous giveaway and only needs 6 more followers to reach her goal! And we all want to help others, do we?

On another note: I now have over 100 followers and would like to celebrate that with you! Next friday will be my day to post a tutorial on the Quilted Fish and I would like to have a giveway on that day.

Hope you are having a great weekend!

Ein wunderbares Wochenende Euch allen,
Johanna

PS: I am taking part in another two quilt alongs. Because there is not enough on my plate right now :)
