These past few days have been flying by with sewing, visiting friends and family and generally doing nothing work-related :)
But this can't go on forever (unfortunately!) so tomorrow it is back to work (which in my case means studying and no internet for the next couple of days). Since that is quite boring for you guys, I will show you a quilt instead :)
Die letzten Tage sind wie im Fluge vergangen und waren gefüllt mit viel Nähen, Freunde und Familie besuchen und ganz allgemein nichts tun, das auch nur im Entferntesten an Arbeit erinnert :)
Leider kann das nicht ewig so weiter gehen, deswegen geht es morgen wieder an die Arbeit (was in meinem Falle Lernen heißt und auch bedeutet, dass ich die nächsten Tage kein Internet haben werde...). Und weil das für Euch sicher ganz langweilig ist, zeige ich Euch einfach einen Quilt :)
How about this one: made with the help of Cara's Urban Lattice QAL and some lovely prints of Weekends by Erin McMorris. I totally copied Lee's color concept which is actually kind of funny because I just decided to get out of her QAL. I love the challenge of moving along with the others but I am so far behind and it would take me so much effort to catch up that I gave up. Instead I joined the Naked Bed Challenge... Because no minute in the day should be spend without something to do :)
Der hier ist im Zuge des Quilt Alongs von Cara's Urban Lattice QAL entstanden. Die Stoffe sind auch der Weekends Kollektion von Erin McMorris. Ich habe übrigens die Farbzusammenstellung total von Lee abgeschaut, was eigentlich recht lustig ist, weil ich gerade beschlossen habe aus deren QAL auszusteigen. Wenn man erst einmal so sehr im Zeitplan hinterher hinkt wie ich, dann müsste man eine unheimliche Anstrengung machen um wieder mit zukommen...
Dafür habe ich mich allerdings dem Naked Bed Challenge angeschlossen. Wäre ja schlimm, wenn es einmal freie Minuten in einem Tag geben würde :)
I finished the Urban Lattice quilt quite some time ago but never had the time to upload the pictures I took of it.
Dieser Quilt ist schon etwas länger fertig gewesen, aber ich hatte einfach nie die Zeit, um die Bilder hochzuladen und zu bearbeiten.
It is only a baby quilt but it is very special to me because I practiced my very first fmq stitches on it. It took a long time to get it done and my wrists hurt so much but I was so proud when I was done :)
Es ist nur ein Babyquilt, aber er ist etwas besonderes für mich, weil ich meine allerersten free motion Stiche an ihm ausprobiert habe. Es hat wirklich eine Unmenge an Zeit gekostet, ihn zu quilten und meine Handgelenke haben danach förmlich geschrien, aber ich war so stolz nachdem er fertig war :)

Oh, yes, that's me! And I can't express how much that means to me!
This quilt was made on several of the days when I was thinking about which direction my life should take. And I love that it not only makes a room brighter but also my heart feel much lighter when I see it.
Ja, das bin ich! Und ich kann nicht in Worte fassen, wieviel mir das bedeutet! Der Quilt ist in einigen von den Tagen entstanden, in denen ich über mein Leben nach gedacht habe und in welche Richtung es gehen soll. Studieren kann man ja auch nicht ewig ;)
Ich mag den Quilt, er ist fröhlich und optimistisch und er heitert einen einfach auf, wenn man in das Zimmer kommt. Die Farben sind toll (Henna Garden Print von Sandi Henderson) und die Vorlage von dem Quilt ist von John (in Fat Quarterly 2): recht einfach und doch perfekt für größere Muster, die man nicht einfach in kleine Teile schneiden möchte.
The pattern is from John and available in Fat Quarterly 2 which came out last year. I used the henna garden prints from Sandi Henderson.
Do you remember my struggles with free motion quilting? I am proud to say that I mastered (for my standards of fmq at least!) one pattern. I still have a long way to go but now I enjoy the process :)

Erinnert Ihr Euch noch an meine Probleme mit Free Motion Quilting? Ich war stolz wie Bolle als ich das erste Mal einen Kreisel mit der Nähmaschine sticken konnte, ohne dass der Faden riss oder an der Unterseite Schleifen aufgetaucht sind. Und das hier ist das einzige Muster, das ich bis jetzt einigermaßen beherrsche, aber ich fange an, das Quilten zu lieben und freue mich auf das Üben :)
Am meisten habe ich Euch das zu verdanken. Jeder, der hier mitliest und/oder einen Kommentar geschrieben hat, hat mich motiviert, weiter zu üben und mich zu verbessern.

Please excuse me while I try to put my life together again :)
Life has been rough around here but I am starting to feel a lot better again. Spring is here and so is the promise of new adventures.
Die letzten Wochen und Monate waren ein wenig anstrengend, aber jetzt fühle ich mich schon sehr viel besser und werde endlich ein wenig in meinem Leben ändern. Ach, Frühling, wie sehr habe ich Dich vermisst :)
Today I want to share with you a quilt I made out of the rest of the Sweet Divinity fabric that we got as part of the Creative Consultants Design Team.
It will be going to a shop on Dawanda that raises money for catastrophes related to earthquakes. Of course, right now, that means that the money will go to Japan.
I would have send it to the shop earlier but life got in the way of sewing :)
Heute möchte ich Euch einen Quilt vorstellen, den ich aus den restlichen Stoffen, die ich noch von Sweet Divinity hatte, gemacht habe.
Der Quilt geht an einen Shop auf Dawanda, der den Erlös seiner gespendeten Sachen an die Aktion "Deutschland hilft" weitergibt. Die Organisatoren dahinter leisten einen Heidenarbeit und machen ihre Sache wirklich toll! Im Moment wird natürlich an Japan gespendet. Ich wollte den Quilt schon sehr viel eher los schicken, hatte aber immer zu viel zu tun um überhaupt an meine Nähmaschine zu kommen.
One side is made with Brooke's wonderful tutorial on the Quilted Fish and the other side with Lynne's tutorial on MBS.
I quilted a few flower shapes and a twirly border.
Hopefully, it will soon find a loving home :)

Ich habe noch ein paar Blumen und einen schnörkelige Umrandung eingequiltet. Hoffentlich findet der Quilt bald ein neues Zuhause :)

I should be writing on some papers for university but instead I am drooling over Sugar and Spice. It took me three entire hours (plus a lot of time preparing) this morning to get them from customs but they are so so sooo worth it. This is actually the first time that I got a fat quarter bundle and I couldn't bring myself to untie it. I might ask someone else to do it because it looks so pretty!
Eigentlich sollte ich gerade an ein paar Sachen für die Uni arbeiten. Leichter gesagt als getan, denn heute morgen habe ich nach einer dreistündigen Odyssee durch München mein Paket von Amanda vom Zoll abgeholt. Das war es total wert, die Stoffe sind einfach nur superschön!
And it now makes me want to sew but I can't! Well, at least I shouldn't :)
I am seriously considering giving up on university and moving to America to work for Riley Blake. When you work with such delicious fabrics all day long you would be really happy, right?
I hope everyone of you gets some sewing time today!
Und jetzt würde ich soooo gerne nähen, aber ich darf ja nicht! Uni geht vor! Allerdings ziehe ich es gerade in Erwägung auszuwandern und für Riley Blake zu arbeiten. Wer den ganzen Tag mit so tollen Stoffen zu tun hat, der muss doch glücklich sein, oder? Nicht, dass ich nicht glücklich wäre, aber mal ehrlich: nähen versus Finger wund tippen?

Today it is my turn to post a tutorial on Amanda's site. I can't tell you how nervous I am! Of course I want it to be perfect and not have other people think that I am the weird German who is doing a lame post with lots and lots of mistakes.
Please go here to count them :) Plus, it was someone special's birthday this week (my Mom :) she will probably not like me for writing this but I will hopefully get my cake to her in an hour and make it up to her).

Jedenfalls hatte diese Woche auch meine Mama Geburtstag! Happy Birthday, Mama :) Vermutlich findet sie das jetzt nicht so toll, aber in ungefähr einer Stunde werde ich mit Kuchen an ihrer Tür klingeln und sie wird das dann hoffentlich nicht mehr so eng sehen :)
